A Bowl Full of Stars
It’s February friends. And I had such a good time last year, I’m going to do it again - a poem a day for the month. Here’s my first poem. You can find last year’s poems at http://www.thebreathandtheclay.com/store

Bowls full of dreams
Bowls full of hours
Bowls of our
Memories,
Of
Crushed
Aromatic
Powder.
Acrylic tongues
Painting the wind,
floating embers
Take the shape of animals;
Antelopes
And arrows.
Rejuvenating our friends
With tales of cunning,
Reminding ourselves
We are more than our moments
Allow us to hold,
Retreating softly
Into blankets of
Cottonwood shadows.
Our words are enough
To raise an army from the ashes
To rattle skin upon our bones
To paint one another’s faces
In azurite and lapis,
To recapitulate the meaning
We squeeze from our sadness.
Bowls full of stars
A geometry of souls
Here is the initiation
Here is the prayer
The rite of passage
We are crossing the equator.
Our universe whispers
It’s confetti of light.
Golden Bowls full of fire
Golden Bowls full of night.
