Anthems

Sing your anthems
‘til doubt falls like ice from a defeated winter

Sing until the birds return,
Until harbingers overtake your galleries of grief,
In portraits recovered from
our days of innocence.

Line your walls with
winged panels open,
heralding Byzantine promises
alive and unfinished

Don’t wait for reason to give its consent
The heart carries notions explanations fail to describe.
